How many times a week can i take ativan or klonopin without getting physically addicted?

I have a script for both and need it for sleep but I really don’t want to go through the withdrawals. I think I may be going through them because I had been taking one of the two every other day and am experiences anxiety and strange sensations, but since it has only been a few weeks that I have been doing this I doubt It will be as bad as when I was hallucinating from withdrawing from taking 3 mg of klonopin a day for a year.

Chosen Answer:

I agree that you should take one or the other. I personally would choose Klonopin. It is long lasting, provides awesome sleep, and is a little more powerful than Ativan. I have been prescribed Klonopin(clonazepam) for over a year. My prescription states that i am to take 2, 1mg tablets a day, which equals 2mg’s of Klonopin daily. I was told by my doctor that at that dose it would be very easy to taper down. I have tried to skip a day or two to see how it feels. I never felt any withdrawal symptoms but its not to say that it may be different for other people. I would really just stick to one, and if you need it, worry about the withdrawals later, when and if that becomes an issue.

I don’t believe you ought to be taking both Ativan & Klonipin at the same time. They are the same type of medication.
Since you are already having reactions & how you are taking them, I suggest you go to a MD & get them prescribed & use them as directed.

I’m assuming you are getting them “unofficially” because I can’t see a MD giving you both.

Pick one & take it every night. When stopping wean your self off VERY slowly ie: 1/4tablet every 4 days.

As different people have different tolerances, I really can’t tell you how many times/wk you can take them without becoming physically addicted.

    Good luck
